HELP! Phone wiped while using correct password

Hello my name is Lisa and I have a bold 9000 I was recently trying to sync my phone to my computer by using the desktop manager... It prompted me for the blackberry password on my computer. I entered my CORRECT!!! Password numerous times until it said one last attempt or all memory will be erase.. Being that the CORRECT password was not working I went to the password options on my bold and disabled the password.. As I attempted this a prompt showed up and said type in "blackberry" so I did then it said type in password, I typed in the correct password once again then it started wiping my phone.

This is extremely frustrating I have... Well had =[... A lot of stuff on my phone and now it is all gone!

And to top it all off it will not start up again, it says "reload software:513"

I don't understand why this happened and I found several other people on online forums who have had the same problem with no solution.

Please help! Is my phone completely wiped out for good?

Re: HELP! Phone wiped while using correct password

Okay so I figured out how to reinstall the software!

But does anyone know if there's any way I can get my files back? I would have backed everything up but the only options I saw I had to pay for, which is a little ridiculous, so I didn't (now regretting that)

Re: HELP! Phone wiped while using correct password

Hi Lisa,

I'm very sorry to hear that you've lost the data. Frankly speaking this feature is turned on to protect data security of your mobile phone. If you don't have any backup then there is no way to get it back.

If you wiped your device and had no backup, it's gone. There is no return without a backup.

No, the Backup is free. there is NO charge. Desktop Manager > Backup.

On your Storm, do you enter your password in Portrait style? Did you have a number or several numbers in your password?

I suspect like many others I have helped in here you thought you had a number in a certain place which was actually an alpha character. Lots of users mistake that -- only to find out true what their password is WHEN they enter it on a full keyboard at a PC.

Good luck.

Re: HELP! Phone wiped while using correct password

Hi Mike,

What do you mean by original setting? After erasing (through wipe command) of device it should go back to factory default setting.

Re: HELP! Phone wiped while using correct password

Lisa,

My friend was playing with my blackberry and thought he knew the password and accidentally wiped the phone and I get the same message to "reload software 513"...At the store they told me there was no way to fix it. How did you get the software back? I have my phone backed up to the computer but was told that it would not work...Any help appreciated!!!!

Hello and Welcome to the Forums!

Well, the folks you talked to may or may not know what they are talking about. You can reload your BB OS...see this KB.

As for your data, hopefully you already have a good backup -- because the data on the BB is already gone.

Good luck!

Hello,

Wow...the ! key on your keyboard sure must be stuck or something... Smiley Tongue

Once the data wipes, it is gone. Period. Regular backups are not an optional activity. Period.

Good luck!
