HELP my phone has the red light of death!

hey can anyone help?

my blackberry torch 9810 started to freeze all the buttons including on the screen then it turned off and wont come back on. There is a red light that flases every minute for 15 seconds.

i have taken out the battery, and sim. tried charging with no battery then putting it in. the only time i get anything on the screen is when its charging with no battery to say it has no battery.

is there anything i can do without having to send it off?

I've never heard of the red light of death.


Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the charging cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage). If it doesn't reboot on the first attempt, leave it several more hours. I've had one charge for two days before it came back to life after an extreme battery depletion. Every 3-4 hours, with the device still connected to the charger, you can remove and replace the battery to see if it reboots.

its showing a small sign of life. It turned on after 11 hours , so i left it like you said to charge, but it froze up and shut off again Smiley Sad

Ok, keep charging and do as instructed above.

 

Then, try starting your device in Safe Mode

Scroll to Options > Device > Application Manage and delete all third party applications.

Restart in normal mode and see if the problem seems resolved.
