Have been using blackberry and mac desktop for a few months. Had a big problem with mac so they replaced it, had all date cloned to new hard drive, now when I sync it takes ages afor the first time and want to change about 2355 calendar entries, although the before and after views looks like it will only change the new view inot (public) whatever that is?
I can only think that because it is a new mac and different mac serial number it wants to run a big initial change but why???????? Please advsie

First, congrats on having the 9780!
Second, please elaborate on your issue by giving a step-by-step of what you do and what ends up really going wrong. It's a pain but more detail helps us help you.

Well here it is:
I went from windows to Mac about 4 months ago and had all the date transfered to ical and then installed BB desktop for Mac and had a few issues then when I tried syncing. Even then it wanted to ever so slightly change a few smal things on over a thousand calender entries which I accepted and did not seem to cause too uch of a problem. ASfter using the BB andf Mac it works and syncs fantastic.
HOWEVER, I had the Mac hard drive replaced 3 times and now apple have replaced it with a another imac and had all my date cloned to the new mac. So I got it back from the mac shop expectiing to plug my usb's and away I go but no, most of the usb's won't speak as it is a different mac serial number and rule of thumb is to reinstal or delete and add the printers which I did and all was good.
However I had to reinstal the BB mac desktop and hwen it synced for the first time it took ages and then an error cam up it wants to change mnore than 25% of myt date, which included 22 notes and 2780 calendar entires and gives you the option to view which I did. Al I could see if that it wantewd to not change any of the body of the text but just the category which is said something like: GENERAL to PUBLic? (am doing this from memory) So what shall I do? Why does this want to change so many calader entries?
Is it something to do with it being a new mac and the first sync is aaying "ohh I have to be made to move from this BB to Mac and back again bit it is a new Mac and this software was loaded with a different mac"???
OR I back it all up as per normal, make sure it is alops BB protected and then check out the changes and if not good then restore the data?

The only thing I can guage from what I've read is that BBDM is asking to change the category of all those entries. I could be wrong but unfortunately BBDM isn't very intuitive when it comes to explaining what exactly is going to be the consequences of clicking one or the other.
If everything on your BlackBerry was fine before your attempting to sync I'd perform a backup before the sync so, God willing, what's backed up is something to work from should something outrageous occur.

OK, I went for it and reinstalled BB Mac desktop and it took ages to sync but then did a sync alert saying it wanted to slightly change load of calender entries. I viewed them as they seemed no difference in the BEFORE and AFTER view and found that there were were nothing deleted but a few extra rogue calendar entries had duplicate themselves. I deleted them and all is back to normal.
It looks to me that when you try and sync a new mac of BB for the first time it wants to change something? on the calendar entries to make them Mac comptible? I've had this twice now and only get the massive calander sync alert when I use my exisating BBB with a new Mac.
I thought more of you on this forum would reply with similar experience of having this???? Do let me know if you can shed some light why this happens.
All the best,
