Go to the messages, press the Menu button, choose General options and scroll down to the option Boxes for the SMS and emails, set this to option to separate. This should help.

if you want to do what the previous guy wrote its not it general options.
Go into messages, press the menu button, go to options, go to main message list settings at the bottom and then you have the checkbox to select what you want and what you dont want in in your message list.

It is somewhere in the options in the messages menu. I dont use english version of the software, so dont know the right english translation in the handgeld. But the option is there, you have only to look for it.

Messages --> BB KEY --> Options -- > General Options --> 2nd to last option in display (SMS & EMAIL INBOXES) set to SEPARATE ..
Should work on the new 9700!! I have this option on an AT&T 9700 in the US..

The way i did it was I went to "Messages -> Menu button -> Options -> General Options, Scroll down til you see "SMS and Email Inboxes option and choose seperate."
Now after you do that go back to the home screen and hit the Blackberry button as it will bring all the icons. Then scroll until you see an icon that says "SMS and MMS." Then hit the "Blackberry button" -> Move, and just move it to where the "Messages" icon was and BAM!! You got it bro. Just the messages will shop up there....
If you dont get it just say so and ill try and explain it again...lol

On BlackBerry 6 (and probably OS7), it's in Messages>Menu Key>Options>Inbox Management>>>Uncheck "Text Messages" under "Other Message Types." I'm on BlackBerry 6. In OS5 it could be elsewhere.
