HOW TO: Install East Asian Language Pack on Bold 9780

[ Edited ]

Hello!

I bought a new Blackberry and want to install Korean, Chinese and Japanese on it A.K.A the East Asian Language Pack. I previously had a Blackberry 8520 and installed the language pack successfully by following this tutorial. I thought that it would work if I tried it with my new phone but it doesn't.

I tried using .JAR files by transferring directly on my phone and installing it from there, but no results. I also tried using .COD and .ALX files but there were no results! I'm confused because the other languages such as English and French appear if I use Desktop Manager or Desktop Software but it doesn't show ANY East Asian languages at all.

Can anyone please help me resolve this problem?

My phone details are as follow:

Blackberry 9780

6.0 Bundle 2647 (v6.0.0.600, Platform 6.6.0.223)

Network: T-Mobile

Bought from: Carphone Warehouse

Thank you!

Hey Ld0ttx,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

Language packs are carrier dependant and this means the carrier brand of the 9780.  Not all network network service providers have east asian characters.

Can you send me a private message with your PIN number so I can look into this further.

You can download the Asia Laguage Pack from the link below.

https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do

After you download and installation, you need to delete [Vender.xml].

From [Start]⇒[Computer]⇒[C:]⇒[Program File]⇒[Common File]⇒[Research in Motion]⇒[AppLoader]⇒[Vender.xml]

Then, click on [Loader.exe] and follow the direction.

Wouldn't I need to have a language pack on my computer? I've tried that before but I always needed to select files in order to install it!

With my 9900 all I need to is open the Desktop Software hook up the device and choose what languages I want. If you have an internet connection I think it downloads anything you need.

Does your 9900 have Korean on it? Because not all models have the East Asian pack readily available on the Desktop Software

Isn't that just the Desktop Software? I've downloaded that before and there's no language pack!
