Handset audio not working



For all incoming and outgoing calls, I do not hear anything on handset audio even though volume is set to full. What I speak is heard on the other side.


However, audio is heard perfect both ways when:

1. I switch the mode to speaker

2. I plug in earphones


This has started after I have taken my phone to the service centre to replace a broken display. I have also got a software upgrade to 7.1.0 bundle 2108.


I have tried simple recommended methods like restarting the phone, removing sim and putting it back - did not help.


I need help to understand the following:

Is it possible that the service centre guy has not assembled the phone well after replacing the screen because of which phone's speaker audio works, but handset audio does not work.

I would guess that if it started right when somebody had the phone apart, it would probably be from the service
