Help !!! All my calendar appointments have disappeared

Just discovered this morning that all my calendar appointments have disappeared, and its not me that has deleted them. When I originally backed up my phone to my computer it only backed up my contacts not my calendar, tasks or memos.

Error message was "The organiser applications on your computer aren't supported". I'm running Windows 7 32 bit OS so can't understand why it would not work.

Anyone any ideas on why the calendar may have gone blank and how I can resolve it and possibly restore old appointments to my phone. Also any way round the support issue.

If not any idea how I can get hold of Blackberry either by phone or email to try to sort this out

Thanks

Re: Help !!! All my calendar appointments have disappeared

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Please tell us what version of desktop manager you are using.

Also what software do you use for your desktop? (Outlook, Lotus, Yahoo, etc.)

I attached a link you can use for reference.

Thanks,

Re: Help !!! All my calendar appointments have disappeared

Thanks for your quick reply

I am using desktop version 6.0 Bundle 2949

I use Windows Live Mail for my emails if thats what you are asking and IE for internet browsing

Sorry new to this forum thing

I did notice about 3 hours before I posted my query that someone else had the same problem, and they were told to take their battery out with the phone still on, and then put it back and apparently that worked. It hasn't with mine

Thanks for any help you can give

Hi,

If you notice Windows Live is not on the supported list for Blackberry desktop software. In my opinion that is not going to improve anytime soon. I've attached the release notes for desktop software version 7.  I've seen a lot of workarounds tried but the basic problem is the software is not supported. I suggest trying Outlook Express (which is still included in Win 7.) i.e.. free or purchase and install MS Outlook.

Thanks,

Hi,

This issue with Windows has been going for at least 2 years, in my opinion it's the nature of the game. AOL, Google, Yahoo have all taken paths that will lead the users to using more of their services while making it impossible to support the requirements of their system. Blackberry Software supports almost all mail providers on multiple OS platforms and program requirements but faces restrictions to their product as well.

I didn't explain clearly my reference to Outlook Express. Spend some time reading the threads in the desktop software forums on this subject. I have seen a number of workarounds proposed, and as far as I know Outlook Express is still free and your easiest product to try. I couldn't find the best version I'd seen but I did some further reading last night and I think Desktop manager 7 will allow you to basically map the needed fields for synchronizing data without the organizer.

Here's a sample:

In the
Account Settings
Section, in the
Calendar
Drop-down list, click the calendar application that you use on your
computer.
7.
If the
Configure
Button beside the drop-down list is dimmed, continue to step 9.
8.
Do one of the following:
If you use the calendar application for Windows Vista® or Windows® 7, click
Configure
. Click
Browse
To select the
location of your Calendars file.
If you use IBM® Lotus Notes®, click
Configure
. Click
Browse
to select your .ini file. If necessary, type your password. If
you want to be prompted for a password, select the
Prompt at every sync
checkbox.
9.
To customize additional options, click
Advanced
. Do any of the following:
To create filters to limit which calendar entries are synchronized, click the
Filters
tab. Click
All of the following
conditions
or
Any of the following conditions
. Select the calendar entry field that you want the filter to apply to, the
operator that specifies the condition of the filter, and the date or text to filter. To add an additional filter, click the
+
icon to the right of the filter.
To change the current field mappings, click the
Fields
tab. Some fields are already mapped between your smartphone
and computer. To synchronize additional fields, in the
Device Field
column, select the checkbox beside the smartphone
field that you want to synchronize. In the
Application
Field
column, in the drop-down list, click the field that you want
the smartphone field to correspond to. To stop synchronizing a field, in the
Device Field
column, clear the checkbox
beside the appropriate field. Fields that cannot be unmapped are dimmed.
To synchronize a calendar other than the main calendar on your computer, click the
Folders
tab. Click
Select a different
calendar to sync
. Highlight a calendar and navigate to the correct folder. Click
Add
.
10.
Click
OK
>
OK
.
To go back to the default options, in the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click
Organizer
>
Reset settings

Let me know what you think after reading the attached user manual.

I haven't had much experience with doing extensive remapping on the Blackberry Desktop manager. I do have a lot of experience with reading these issues and seeing users create work arounds.

Truth be told I'm being forced to get off MS Outlook 2003 to support WIN 7 requirements and more importantly the Blackberry Link software for my new (as of yesterday)  Blackberry Z10 device.
Thanks,
