Hotmail v. Mac Mail: Sent email

When I send an email from my Hotmail mailbox (as opposed to the Hotmail website in my browser) on my BB, the message does not register in my Mac Mail sent box; and vice versa. How do I rectify this?

I am using Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.2) on my MacBook (mid-2009); Mail version 6.1 (1498).

My incoming mail server on my Mac is pop3.live.com.

I am using BB Curve 9360, 7.1.0 (1133).

My service provider is Vodafone.

Many thanks in advance for your help on this.

Re: Hotmail v. Mac Mail: Sent email

Hi and Welcome to the Community...apologies for the delayed reply...hopefully you already got your answer, but just in case...

Please refer to this KB:

  • KB05133 Email reconciliation features for the BlackBerry Internet Service

All interaction is, via BIS, between your BB and your email server, and the capabilities are governed by that KB. If your mail service is not capable of receiving the item sent from the BB into the server-based Sent Items, then it certainly will not be reflected anywhere else.

As for reflecting it in your Mac Mail, that will depend on the capabilities of your Mac Mail client and it's ability to display to you Sent Items that are separately placed on the server (by BIS)...some email apps can do that, others cannot.

The reverse also holds true...if you send from Mac Mail, then it must be able to place the item into the server-based Sent Items folder. Then, it can be reflected on the BB, but only if that capability is available as per the KB linked above.

Good luck!
