Hotsync problem

I was happily hotsyncing with Outlook for contacts and the calendar until I created a new Outlook account (now running two accounts) . When I plug the cable in now, the phone shows the analogue clock as it normally did and asks if I want toSync Media. The Blackberry Desktop Software states that it no longer recognises the phone and asks me to check battery or update software. I am running the latest software and the battery is fine. Does anyone know how i can fix the issue?

Re: Hotsync problem

I'd do two things...

  • Is the USB cable connected to a main REAR USB port, not a front USB port, not a USB hub?
  • On the BlackBerry, Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A

Now, reconnect and try the sync again.

When you do this, do you normally open and run the BlackBerry Desktop Software, or does the sync just start automatically... in the past?

Re: Hotsync problem

Many thanks! I had to go through and reset everything in the Desktop Software but it's all worked - thanks so much!

The Software doesn't start automatically - it used to but that was a while ago. Could it have been because I took it out of the Start-up menu when i switch the computer on...? I can't remember now but it hasn't started automatically for a while.

Re: Hotsync problem

Good, glad you got it sorted.

Yes, there is a setting in the BlackBerry Desktop Software to sync anytime your BlackBerry is connected, as well as a setting to start the Desktop Software if connected.
