Re: How do I restore my backup information to a new device (Blackberry Protect)?

[ Edited ]

Actually, I am still having trouble. My newly installed Blckberry Desktop Manager on my Mac doesn't seem to see my device, although when I plug it in, it activates the manager and shows a "Connecting" button. But then the device doesn't appear. Could this be because it no longer has a sim card? It's charged and connected to wifi.

I can locate the archived data from yesterday's backup, but it doesn't let me do anything with it (save as a CSV file, for example). Here is a screenshot:

Feeling frustrated over how much time I've wasted on this, but I have hundreds of contacts and calendar entries I don't want to re-enter manually.

Thanks!

Re: How do I restore my backup information to a new device (Blackberry Protect)?

  • Reboot the BlackBerry (powered on, battery pull)
  • Reboot the Mac.
  • Try the connections again and/or use another USB port on the Mac.

You were able to connect to perform the backup earlier, it should connect and sync your data as well.

ALSO:  You have your mobile phone number listed as your "My Mobile Provider" or carrier. Putting your phone number out on the internet on these public forums for the world to see, is not wise. To change that, at the top of this page click on My Settings > Personal Profile > Personal Information, and in the entry block for "Carrier" type the name of your mobile provider.
