Hi and welcome to the forums!
You want to make sure you have enabled Mass Storage Mode and then you can just drag 'n drop your photos from the BB to your PC. I am assuming you have a media card and have saved the photos there.
Go to options-media card; setting should be as follows:
Media Card Support: On
Encryption Mode: None
Mass Storage Mode Support: On
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes
Let us know how it goes and great to have you here!

If you enable mass storage mode per my earlier post (or if you already had it enabled), you just use My Computer (windows explorer) to drag 'n drop the pics from the BB to/from the pc. With mass storage mode enabled, when you connect your BB via usb cable you will be asked if you want to open a win explorer window. Say yes and you will see the drive letter that has been assigned to your BB.
Migrate to the pictures folder in that drive and you should see the pics you have on your BB. Just copy/cut them from there and paste them into the folder on your pc where you want them to be. No additional software required.
Let us know if you have any further questions.

Oh wow. You want to get a card soon. Device memory is not something you want to fill up with pics. You want to keep your device memory level as free as you can or your BB will begin to delete messages and texts to give it more room to operate.
To see what OS you are running on your BB, go to options-about, 3rd line down will read v4.x.x.xxx
Here's a table showing you the media card size limit based upon the OS you have on your BB: Media Card Capacity
If you have a recent OS on your phone, 4.5 and above I believe, you would see two drives on the BB, one for the media card and one for device memory. I'm not sure, but would assume, that without a media card you would still be able to see the device memory if you have enabled mass storage mode. Mass storage mode enables you to copy files between your BB and Windows Explorer. I have always had a media card so let me know what you find out.
Post back and let us know how it goes.

The mass storage mode only works with a media card on the Curve. I think the Bold is the only phone that can have the internal drive work in mass storage mode.

Thanks Kijana. I wasn't sure if OP had OS that would let him see device memory even if there was no media card. I believe that w/4.5 & up you see two drives w/mass storage enabled. Correct. Question in my mind was whether they could see device memory if they didn't have the card or if the card was needed to see either drive. Couldn't find supporting kb either way to definitively answer my query.
No, I don't think it matters either way...the mass storage mode works only with the media card. The internal drive will never show up as a storage drive that can be accessed from the pc. This feature is only available on the blackberry bold from what I know. OS 4.5 doesn't change this.
The OP will need to use media manager to transfer the files for sure.
