Re: How to regain access to your BBID

Hi !

I have a different yet similar problem. I just bought a new phone (not BB) and I want to transfer contact info + other stuff form my BlackBerry Curve 9320 to my new phone. However, I have taken the "big" simcard out of the BB and made it a "micro" simcard in order to put it in my new phone which means I can't put it back in the BB.

Now, when I start my BB without a simcard it asks for the BlackBerry ID username and password. I forgot the password so I clicked on "Forgot password?" but the answer is : "Your request cannot be completed. Please make sure that you BlackBerry ID has been activated and that you have typed the correct email address." I am certain of both these things.

I then changed my password via internet (BB website sent me an email enabling me to create a new password).

I then tried the new password on my BB but it still doesn't work.

Finaly, I don't want to wipe my phone because I need my contacts and calendar apointements...

Can you help me ?

Exactly how does "doesn't work" manifest? Is there an error message? Details please...

Thanks and let us know!

Re: How to regain access to your BBID

Thank you for your answer !

It says : "The username and password provided do not correspond to a valid BlackBerry ID."

Anyway, if you have an answer that would be awesome but I found a way to insert the simcard in the BB after all so I copied all the info I wanted.

Re: How to regain access to your BBID

Given your description, this might apply:

  • Article ID: KB29361 Unable to log into BlackBerry World with the BlackBerry ID when the SIM card is removed from the BlackBerry smartphone

Or perhaps this:

  • Article ID: KB28212 "Unable to login to your BlackBerry ID account" or "Unable to update your BlackBerry ID account information" error occurs on a BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry 7

Also be 100% sure that you are typing the credentials correctly on the BB...if there are any special characters, numbers, caps, etc., then you must be sure to use the key modifier (Alt, Caps, Num) for each and every character. For instance, if your password is

  • ab123

and you enter

  • a > b > ALT > 1 > 2 > 3

the actual result will be

  • ab1er

You must enter

  • a > b > ALT > 1 > ALT > 2 > ALT > 3

in order to wind up with ab123. So, in this example, while on the BB keyboard you think you are typing ab123, you are actually typing ab1er.

On your BB, when you type your password, you should get just a moment where each character is shown in the clear before it changes to an *. Watch closely the next time and you may see a surprising result.

Good luck!

Hello,

I have a challenge reconciling two of your statements:

So, you want fewer words, yet you also want to know how to fix your situation...that's a bit of a challenge to accomplish.

All methods of recovery are already discussed in this thread -- the only thing I can do is add more words, which you don't want. If all of the automated methods fail, then human support is the final attempt...and that, too, is described in this thread. Based on your description and since you don't want to read all else that is in this thread, that's what I recommend you do. Ring up your mobile service provider and see if you can convince them to escalate you to formal BB support.

Failing that, the only thing to do is abandon the BBID and start over. To do that, you WIPE your device and then create a new BBID.

Good luck!

Re: How to regain access to your BBID

I can send you nothing...I have no access to any systems to actually do what you ask. I do not work for BB...this site is not formal support...this site is user-to-user voluntary assistance. I can't send you a link...only formal support can do that, and this site is not formal support.

I cannot tell though...after the WIPE, are you attempting to use the exact same BBID as before? If so, then that won't work unless you can properly enter the required credentials. If you cannot, via the various means discussed in this thread, recover your existing BBID, then your only option is to abandon that and create a brand new one, which cannot share any of the credential information of the one you are abandoning.
