How to remove a virus....

I have a BB curve 9330 and I think it may have a virus. I made the mistake of downloading Skype and as soon as I did my BB shut down and I have not been able to turn it on since. I bought a new battery thinking that was it but nope. I tried plugging it into my pc for BB desktop and I actually got a blue error screen on my pc. I can't turn it on to make any adjustments. I miss my BB :-( any suggestions?

Re: How to remove a virus....

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, attempt to remove what you installed.

Good luck and let us know!

1. There is no virus for BlackBerry. None. No, none.

2. Follow sdgardne's suggestion,go to Options > Advanced > Applications and delete the Skype app.

(of, if you're on OS7, it would be Options > Device > Application Management, and delete Skype.)

Skype should work well on your 9330 model if you are on Verizon.

Press/release/hold sequence??  It says just to hold it down until the loading screen appears. Am I supposed to be doing something else?

Re: How to remove a virus....

Sometimes, it works exactly as the KB instructs...other times, you must fiddle with it a little to get it to work on your specific device/OS level. All I'm saying is that you need to have patience, and try different methods until you figure out the one that works for you.

Good luck!
