I followed every single step and gave me the no device software found. You are saying I need to have the proper BB OS package, how do I know if I have it?

And like you said, they looked similar but had differences, like starting without the battery, etc.

Except for the BBFAQ one (that site is offline at the moment), from what you describe, it sounds like they all have the same root issue...no BB OS package installed to your PC. You would check just like any other thing installed to your PC..."Add/Remove Programs" or "Uninstall A Program" (depends on your PC OS version). The line item will usually say something like "BlackBerry Device Software...." and will list the OS level as well as the model number of the BB to which the OS package is for. If you don't have any such line item on your PC installed programs list, then it's not installed...and needs to be in order for these things to work correctly. You can obtain any OS package via the official download portal:
