I am not having the problems you describe.  Same version.

 

I have also had several other smartphones and all of them have their quirks.  Perhaps I look to and need the benefits and that makes me more tolerant.

 

Anyway, I am generally happy with the Storm.

I am a UK user with the 9500. The .76 update cured most initial issues. The next update will probably make it even better. I am very happy with my Storm and it gives me no trouble at all. I do feel sorry for those, seemingly mostly on Verizon with 9530s, who have had troubles. I do think RIM launched this phone prematurely, which was very bad business,  and some phones' build quality may have been suspect. But I love my Storm, especially the pin-sharp screen resolution which makes using it a visual and tactile joy.
