Re: I regret having a blackberry

Hi, Thank you for replying. I already followed the steps in article from day 1, I'm a computer engineer by the way. however, the main problem lies in that the desktop manager is not compatable with the 64 bit ver. of windows 7.

I had to do some extra work in this issue. there no solution for this at all unless BB to release a new ver. to work under such environment.

the only solution is work around one. I installed a vmware and setup a virtual machine with windows XP operating system then I installed the desktop manager over it. it works, but it's not solution as whenever I need to  use the desktop manager I have to update the outlook version that's installed under the virtual machine. which takes a long time, and some times the update or replication between outlook instances is not 100% accurate.

so the only solution is to wait for RIM/BB to release new version.

Re: I regret having a blackberry

Doesn't matter that you're a computer engineer, you can make mistakes still, right?

Use the 64-bit version of the Desktop Software v6, instead.

Do you see anything wrong with that, speaking as a computer engineer?

Re: I regret having a blackberry

LOL,,, yes, you're right but, this was the initial search for me I tried to find that version anywhere , with no hope.  so I assumed that there is no 64 bit version.

if you have a link to download it, please reply with it.

You've tried downloading this version here:

And it fails?

Re: I regret having a blackberry

Thanks for this link.

I was one of those that blindly let my ver 6.1 b038 be automatically upgraded to ver 7.0.  It actually went through one synch without an error message.  Not sure what it did to me.  The next synch would only let me upgrade the calendar on my Bold if I deleted calendar entries on my Outlook 2010.  There was no option to only do part of that.  Then I saw the reports that the calendar parameters were no longer by a set number of days, but required an exact date to determine how far ahead to update and to delete prior entries.

I reinstalled DT (Non-BES) ver 6.1 b038.  When I connected any of three different BBs, I got the never ending message "Intializing Device".  I never did try to let it go past 6 hours.  But, I never got any of the three to complete initialization.

Whatever possessed RIM to abandon Intellisync?

Can I assume that your link represents a non-BES version?
