Initialization failed

ive been usng this bb 9790 for just over two months now and for some reason while i was using it today it shut down and the sim card could not be read. i took the sim out and put it into another phone and the sim card was read. but for some strange reason my phone i not reading the sim card.

Do you get a specific error message when your BlackBery smartphone boots up or do you just see the SOS icon in the upper right corner?

The SOS signal just comes up. No other messages come up.

Same problem I am facing since 23-Mar-13. i removed the existing SIM from my BB Bold 9790, after inserting the SIM again, "intialisation failed" message is appearing in centre and SOS at right top corner. Even I have swiped the phone completely and installed updated OS 7.1 but still the problem exist. The BB is only 11 month old.

Please help in the matter if you can.

I got the same problem as describe, COuld any one say how to fix this problem.

The problem is with hardware of the handheld, I have submitted my handheld to the authorised service centre for replacement. if it is under warranty, it should be replaced.

Take your phone back to your provider as the warranty is only good for one year(unless you extended it). I have the identical problem and no one can fix it... It is the "mother board" is what I'm getting told by tech. You need a replacement.
