Initializing SIM Card

I have a Blackberry Bold, Model 9650(?). Its OS was updated this past weekend.

 

Everytime I turn it on I get a message, "Initalizing SIM Card." 

 

(1) Is there any way to get this card inizalized once and for all so that I don't see this message every

time I turn it on???

 

(2) How do I know I even have an SIM card? What's its function?

This happens to a lot of users here in Italy.

the same error was showing in my mobile 

 

i removed the sim card and then a press the metal piece that holds the sim card 

 

maybe the sim card was a bit loose ...

 

hope that can help ...
