Installing software problem - Error 507 and other stuff

Hello there! I tried to reinstall the os on my bb, i wiped the device and then i tried to upgrade it. So I tried with BBsak, it didn't work because everytime it says that it dosen't find the os installed on the computer (but it's installed, and after that i tried to delete the Vendor file as well). Anyway, i did it by updating through the Desktop Manager. The thing is that the Manager had installed the 4.5 version, not the 5, so i wiped the device again and now the thing is that if i try to install trough the Launcher it dosen't work (i tried it by deleting the vendor file, and then without deleting it, after i write the password, it comes the other window with applications and it's a strange message like - bb dosen't has any update for this phone or somthing like this), I tried again by doing it with the Desktop Manager but now it says that it isn't any update available for this device (and i tried it with BBsak also, and of course it dosne't works). If someone could help, i'd be very pleased. Thanks

Re: Installing software problem - Error 507 and other stuff

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

From all that you've said, it is clear that you have not properly enabled your process to override the automatic OS selection and substitute the OS package that you downloaded/installed to your PC. If you do not delete the VENDOR.XML files, then the installed (to your PC) BB OS package will completely ignored, and the automatic process will continue. Since all you have said is that you "tried" to delete the VENDOR.XML files, I can only surmise that you did not succeed...and the result therefore is WAD -- Working As Designed.

So, I recommend the following:

1) Uninstall, from your PC, any and all BB OS packages

2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:

4) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  • C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Now, proceed with these, in order, until you discover one that works for your situation. If any of these processes recommend the use of an "update website", please modify and use instead the installed BBOS package on your PC:

1) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC. If, during the process, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.

2) Start at step 2 of this procedure: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...

  • Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.

4) KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state

No, i deleted the Vendor file, but i tried it after, without deleting it ( i uninstalled and then reinstalled the software). Anyway, I did it by uninstalling the device software and then deleting the AppLoader folder and installing again (and deleting the Vendor file, of course), but the BBsak even now wouldn't find the software..the thing is that I made it. Thank's!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Based on what you've said, the steps and tricks listed in post 2 of this thread should work for you. Also based on what you've said, there is no way to know if you've already tried those specific things. But, given your description of error message ("check for my internet connections"), I can deduce that you have NOT tried those specific things, for those should not generate such an error message. Of course, from your inexact error message description, we can only guess...the exact and complete content of error messages is always more useful than something else.

Good luck and let us know!
