Internet Connection Problem

I have installed Desktop Manager on my PC (that I don't know how to use, only a MAC user) reinstall my device software because of a null exception error, as I was told to do before.  I can surf the 'net but when it tries to sync, it can't find a connection.  I can go to any website and it will work but nothing to do with blackberry software. I can't also upgrade to the latest DM either. How would I get a version of 4.2 since mine is 4.3 something. I read you don't need a connection but can i reinstall device software with it.

Download Desktop Manager from here:

I would recommend you download version 4.7 withOUT the media software.

I just keep getting cannot find server. I think I figured out how to fix that.

I downloaded 4.7 to my mac and then put it on a flash drive and then put it on my PC. I was having problems when it came to upgrading the OS because it kept saying I was part of BES or Professional. So I just did a wipe found in the security settings after I backed up everything and my null execption went away. Then I restored the backup.
