Internet?

Hello! So I bought a second hand blackberry curve 8520 off eBay. The phone is in great condition and I just stuck my own pay as you go sim card in. I have now realised I can't get internet and would really appreciate it if somebody would tell me what to do! I can't find a straight answer anywhere on the internet. So basically I would like to have internet on my Blackberry but don't know who to contact, what to say... Please help.

Re: Internet?

Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?

You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.

So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.

Now, that said, you can use the Hotspot browser when connected to WiFi to surf the internet.

On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Advanced > Browser, and set that to hotspot and save.

Now, when connected to a WiFi router, the browser will work.

Re: Internet?

Things you might try:

1) Register HRT:     (OS5) Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Scoll to any line entry and > press the Menu key  > and then click Register Now. If you have an OS 6 or OS 7 device, Look at Options > Device > Advanced... etc.

2) Resend Service Books:   KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service

Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

  • Then, with the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
