Is it possible to disable background data?

I hope this hasn't already been asked. I have a limited amount of data on my plan, therefore do not want my apps to be using data all the time. For example, I do not want facebook to check for notifications every 30 seconds, but I would like to be able to manually click on the facebook app and check my notifications. I am finding it rather annoying to have to turn my data off all the time, then turn it on when I want to use an app.

Other phones I have had gave me the option to "disable background data", can I do this on the BB Bold 9900?

Thanks in advance! Smiley Happy

Re: Is it possible to disable background data?

Yes this can be done for Facebook for BlackBerry app as well.

Go to Facebook apps > press Menu button > select Options > scroll down to Refresh Option > in Refresh News Feed : Never.
