I'm a physician, and my hospital uses USA Mobility paging, which pages on 929.6125 MHz. I also carry my BlackBerry, and I feel like Batman when I look at my belt while walking the halls of the hospital.
Does BlackBerry make a device that can function as a phone on any of the major carriers' networks AND receive pages?

Assuming USA Mobility can send a page to either a phone number or an email address, then yes.

Our hospital tried doing away with pagers within the past two years, but the cell coverage is unacceptable-- especially when emergency pages are sent out. Waiting for reliable an email or an SMS is not a safe option in this circumstance, and the pagers will work almost everywhere (the only exception I can think of is within the Faraday cage in radiation oncology). Is there a device that can function as a smart phone AND have a dual function that enables it to receive pages through the frequency that broadcasts to the pagers?

I honestly don't know of a current BlackBerry that will receive on that bandwidth.
