Issues with HTML e-mail

Since getting my Bold 9700 I've been having problems viewing HTML emails.  I'm sure I've set it up right: yes to enable HTML email, yes to automatically load images.  I have even deleted my Yahoo account and set it up again.  All I get is plain text, although I can scroll to the links and choose to open them in the browser.  But I don't want to see the HTML code in my message.

Tried calling O2 but they're not much help.  The man said that if I press the BB menu button while in an e-mail then I should have a get html option, but I don't seem to have this.  There is not even a get images option.

Does anyone else have this same issue and were you able to fix it?

Re: Issues with HTML e-mail

Are you on a Corporate BES account or a persona BIS account?

1.  Look at Options > Security > Information. Is there anything listed there?

2.  Open an email with HTML. Press the Menu key .

Please list here what your Menu choices are?

Re: Issues with HTML e-mail

I have similar issues.

I have been using my Bold 9700 for nearly three months with no problems. There were no problems with my HTML e-mails from my three Gmail accounts at all, all links are clickable and all images can be downloaded.

I did a battery pull yesterday after updating via Desktop Manager (the first time I've done so since I bought the unit) and since then all my HTML e-mails have nonclickable links and images can no longer be downloaded. I am now running on v5.0.0.593 (Bundle 1022, Platform 5.1.0.147)

I have a personal BIS account. When I click on the Menu key while on an HTML message, I do not see Get Images. I do see the following:

Re: Issues with HTML e-mail

I have a personal BIS account I think.

1.  Options > Security > Information shows no services

2.  My BB email message menu shows the following:

Re: Issues with HTML e-mail

Hello,

I've upgraded my OS to v5.0.0.680 (Platform 5.1.0.160) and my e-mails are back to normal now.

Thanks.

Re: Issues with HTML e-mail

I did think about maybe updating my OS.  However, when I checked for updates using desktop manager it told me I already had the latest software and there was no need to do anything.

Where did you get your update?

Thank you.

Re: Issues with HTML e-mail

Thank you, this is the exact route I would have recommended.

Device operating system releases are "released" by specific carriers once they have certified and trained their support techs, but still, you are able to load to any carrier's same model by following the instructions below.

See the link below, for the download and simple installation instructions.

http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-9700-series-discussion-bold-2/228579-latest-os-blackberry-ha...

Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.

1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Re: Issues with HTML e-mail

Thanks for the links and recommendations.

Being a new BB owner I am a little curious about what happens after I update the OS.  I am in the UK on O2 network.  Will this affect my O2 settings or will I need to restore them after installing the new OS?  The reason I ask is because I have noticed that the file name has east asia and optus mobile in it.  Does this mean anything or am I worrying too much about it?

I think I will install .743 version.  From other comments it seems this build is quick and without lag.  Really all I want is for my emails to display properly.  The phone seems to be working fine apart from that.

Some users might worry they will void their device warranty by loading an OS from another carrier. There is really nothing to worry about.
Please read more information on that here:

In short, do it, no big deal.
