Re: Issues with Official .148?

I'm getting about 4-6 hours of battery life from full charge to completely dead.  No phone calls, nothing running in background (no gps, no bluetooth). I pulled the battery before and after the .148 "upgrade". Others have posted the battery is hot. My battery seems cool, it's the bottom half of my phone that seems hot.

The only 3rd party apps installed are weatherbug, opera-mini, and google maps. But I have not run them after resetting the phone.

Re: Issues with Official .148?

My issue has been resolved.  I had to take it to Verizon and leave it with them for a few hours to do some testing.  The only thing they saw was a third party app called SameCell running constantly.  I removed the app and have had no problems with battery drain.  In fact it seems the battery is even lasting a little longer than it did on .75 with .148 now.

Thanks for the update. SameCell is simply an Excel-type spreadsheet program for the BlackBerry, but it running in the background could certainly drain the battery.

Re: Issues with Official .148?

I have resolved my battery drain problem, and it too was 3rd party apps. I uninstalled Weatherbug, GoogleMaps, and Opera Mini. The battery is no longer draining, and the phone is running cool. I don't know which one was the culprit, as I dumped all three at the same time. I have not reinstalled any of them, but I imagine a reinstall would not have the battery issue. Reading through the other posters with problems, there are no apps that are common to all problem upgrades. It seems like all 3rd-party apps should be uninstalled prior to the upgrade.

Re: Issues with Official .148?

Uninstalled -- or at least properly closed when not in use. The back button and the red key do not always close apps. Rather, the BBKey and selecting close or exit produces a proper and full application closure (assuming the app is not rogue in it's nature). You can always check the apps that are running by holding the BBKey and seeing what is on the app switch ribbon...if you suspect an app is something that should not be running (there are several that must always be running), then switch to it and close it completely.

Shark,

Try installing one at a time with a day between installs to narrow down which third party app it would be.

Re: Issues with Official .148?

Well easy and quick. All the obviouse is off and i have two batteries and mildly more battery drain than with my prior .113. So GPS and Apps off...I often do a Quickpull once a day.

Issues I have

1. Bar's during transistion from full menu to mini menu.

2. Browser Identification had to be sent once.

3. Media Player is not funtioning with head phones properly. If Media player is in background it will not play continualy i have to keep hitting the volume button to get to the next song. This is my biggest issue, and no one knows the answer!!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!

Perhaps if you could provide some details about what the issues are, others could find potential fixes for you? Just a thought...

Cheers!

Re: Issues with Official .148?

jimbrownau, in the link below is a tutorial I wrote for using the Storm 9530 on ATT and TMo.

Please look over the initial post and let us know what issues you are having, and if you have performed the steps in the link.
