Item in email inbox - cannot delete, cannot display menu when it's highlighted

My wife forwarded an email, and something went wrong, perhaps bad email address.

 

She deleted the email, but there is a remaining entry:

 

   (0 items)                                      5.27 pm

   Information [i.e. subject]              *

 

Now, in the above example, the Subject of the email is Information. I've added[i.e. subject] simply to explain the entry.

Under the time is a gold five-pointed star, represented by the * here.

 

The Icon to the left of _this_ entry in the Inbox is the opened envelopes icon (two overlapping envelopes)

 

Problem:

    When this Inbox entry is highlighted, and the Menu buttom is pressed, _nothing_ happens...no menu comes up.

    When this inbox entry is highlighted, pressing Delete does nothing.

 

Question:

   How can this entry in the Inbox list be removed??

Thank you for your question.

 

This is likely a notification for a third party application (commonly a RAM optimization application) that you have installed.

 

You may want to check the application for updates or remove it as a test.

Thanks for the try, but my wife doesn't have any apps installed. Just the Torch as obtained through the Employee Purchase Program a few years ago. She only uses Gmail.  

 

Neither one of us has run across this before.
