JUM Error 517

HELP!! I  bought my new BOLD 9000 at Christmas.

I recently switched it on after it being off for two months to find that I keep getting the message "JUM Error 517" and underneath it says "Reset". I push the selection on my trackball but it keeps going back to the same message.

I have searched on the forum and a user had a similar case but note that the Jum error was 102 - not 517 as on my phone.

I connected my phone to my Mac, went to application s, and they is no Blackberry app. Do I need to install it? Robot Sad

Re: JUM Error 517

I am now getting this same message on my Bold 9700.  I clicked on the link below that says "official KB", but get a message saying this document is no longer available. Help needed for this please. Thank you.

Hello,

Yup...it seems that RIM has pulled that KB for one reason or another...try this one:

  • KB19442Hardware related JVM error codes

What it would indicate to me is that you need to reload your BB OS. But, before you try that, try this:

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Good luck and let us know!
