Just starting with BB

i earlier had a NOKIA N-73 and really had a bad time with that extremely slow phone.i bought BB as i was told that it has the fastest processor. Can anyone confirm that?---i have still not gone through that help CD --i thought that learning with u guys will be fun. Can anyone tell how to transfer the contents including contacts of my 2GB mini SD card used on nokia phone to this one.( their sizes are different).

Hi jaggudada88,

Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forum.

You can move  contents of your device one by one to your media card. However, if your connect your device via USB cable then you'll be able to transfer all of them in a single go. By default contact are saved in device memory there is no way you can change this option.

Re: Just starting with BB

Thanks for responding to my query.

Well i am little apprehensive about the solution as contacts on Nokia are saved on a diferent OS then what is being saved on BB. I fear that i ll have to save contacts on BB afresh. I think thats the reason enough that all mobile manufacturers standardise these formats.Any comment?

Next question: can the shortcuts on the home screen be changed ? if yes , then how ?

Re: Just starting with BB

Welcome to the group. You can change the shortcut icons that show up when you turn the phone on. Here is what I did:

1. click menu

2. move the cursor to the program you want to move

3. click menu

4. select "move"

5. move the icon to the top row.

6. click menu

7. select "complete move"

Now you should have it on the home page. You can have a total of 6 icons.

Hope this helps.
