I have a 9800 which has had it's fair share of drops, but with a case. In the recent couple months, some interesting things have been happening and I'm hoping someone out there can help me.
It started with the keyboard changing languages (US to UK) which was a little annoying, but bearable. Then as I'm typing, I'll get things as if I'm holding down the ALT key.
The next problem is while I'm on the phone, the mute kicks on and off, messing up my conversations. I thought at first it was me hitting the button with my cheek, but this also happens on speaker phone and even if I set it on my desk and not touch it.
The latest is the keyboard and convenience keys stop working on occasion. If I run my fingers all over the keyboard, it comes back and works fine. I thought it was a stuck key at first, but I could sit there and just press one key until it comes back alive. It started out once every other week and progressively got worse until almost every time the screen goes off, I have to mash the keys to get the keys to work.
Reading some forums, I decided to wipe it and reinstall the OS, which the only difference is it seems faster, but the problems are still there.
Hope there is a fix as I'm stuck in a plan until the fall (at that time I can get un upgrade on my plan) . I don't want to go out and get a new phone since I can't get the 9800 and if I do go for a new phone, I wouldn't mind the new BB, but that's a month away and probably $$$.

Sounds like a broken or loose ribbon cable, not an easy fix to open up the device either.
