Lack of applications

Dear RIM

I don't normally do this but I have decided to contact you with my utter
dismay at your lack of foresight. BlackBerry products especially my play
book are fantastic but I don't understand what is happening with ethier
yourselves or the market as blackberry does not seem to be keeping up with
the market standard (applications)

I say this because there are certain things that I can not do on the
blackberry and you don't seem to be acquiring them either. Theses are
simply things like skype, kindle, skygo, netflix the list is endless you
haven't even got the new BBC iplayer upgrade. Yes you may reply that you
are trying to aim at the business end of the market but so is apple and
Samsung with their tablets and they are getting these applications. I can
also tell you I have trouble doing my online banking on the playbook as it
doesn't support firebox Web browser.

I got excited when you added an android capability to the playbooks, but it
hasn't made hardly any difference the apps just aren't there.

Like I say Iove my BlackBerry products but I have moved away from your
phones and now own a Samsung galaxy, I will also be looking to buy another
tablet in the next few months and as good as the new blackberry playbook is
I will be going down the Android root again as I feel I will be wasting my
money as the usability off the playbook is becoming less and I also feel
that in five years if RIM carry on the way they are now we will be saying
"remember blackberry" as you will no longer be about.

So please can you start to realize that people want tobe able to do things
on their blackberries without needing to access their pcs via splashtop
during their downtime and start listening to the people on your sites who
leave comments of what applications they want access to or there will be no
more blackberry.

I am not the only person I know moving away from blackberry when their
phone contracts were up.

Yours hoping

1. Remember, This is a user-to-user community support forum. We are not RIM employees, but volunteers who enjoy assisting other users. RIM personnel rarely comment on queries posted here. You would have noticed this in the message upon registration.

2. RIM doesn't make those apps you've mentioned. The companies themselves do, i.e. Netflix has not created or allowed to be created a Netflix for BlackBerry or PlayBook app, BBC has not updated their iPlayer.

Why have they not, I don't know. You need to ask Netflix, Skygo, and Kindle that question.

As for Skype, it is available on Verizon-branded BlackBerry devices serviced through Verizon. Apparently, Verizon signed some exclusivity contract with Skype for that. We do need it on the PlayBook.

Re: Lack of applications

Thanks for your reply but I have emailed amazon and sky and they also blame RIM as for netflix they have made their position none on the web. I realize that RIM rely on developers and such but they also need to get these people interested in their products this includes big business, you can't make something and expect people to come to you you have to go to them a push your products and get them to make the apps.  As for the BBC iplayer if it has been updated then why can I get live tv through it on my Samsung galaxy and not my playbook? Why because as stated on the web site it is only for the apples, xbox and other Android devices as it explains if you go to accessibility. It also gives a list of tablets it does support.

on the Web site they have created this for the apple and other Android devices not the playbook it explains in the accessibility it. So yes I might be able to watch live tv from the BBC its not through the app.

Re: Lack of applications

splash, I'm not going to argue with you. I know what I know, and I answered your question, and Amazon and Sky are just plain lying to you or the person answering is very very misinformed.

Good luck.
