Language and Input Support section missing Desktop Software

I am trying to delete some languages from my Torch 9850. I recently switched the device from a defective torch 9850 to a replacement like new from Verizon. When getting into BDS V 7.1.0.41, loading Applications only gets me to the applications that I have installed from Blackberry World but it does not give me further options as it used to do last time I needed to change languages, which was in February, two months ago. I have checked for software updates and both BDS and OS 7 are up to date (OS7 v7.1.0.755, Platform 5.1.0.553). I have repair, installed, and installed BDS with no luck. Ideas?? Laptop running Win8 now and back in February when it was the last time this option was required and successfully run.

Thank you!!

Re: Language and Input Support section missing Desktop Software

Hello,

The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):

1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages

2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

3) Download and install, to your PC, the exact BB OS package that is presently running on your BB:

4) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  • C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Now try again.

Good luck and let us know!
