Re: Latest 9800 OS: 6.0.0.666

Is there any way to download/upgrade OS on BB alone without going through PC?

Not safely. Be sure you use BB Protect!

If you are offered a wireless upgrade ON the device, you can do so, but I still recommend performing a manual backup of your BlackBerry first, using the PC > BlackBerry Desktop Software.

Re: Latest 9800 OS: 6.0.0.666

Hi all! I've got a problem after doing my first upgrade and I am pretty confused! Hope you could help me.

After upgrading to OS 6.0.0.546, my Torch 9800 suddenly can't access internet through WiFi anymore.

I'd like to get my WiFi access back, either by fixing the version I already have, or by upgrading or downgrading -- either solution is OK with me as long as I know for sure that it would fix the problem.

Now, here's some additional information:

I've done the upgrade via DM. I don't know if the installation has any particular options related to some provider since everything went automatically and I had no options to choose from.

After the upgrade, the device is connecting properly to my WiFi but no app (BB Browser, OperaMini, App World, Google Maps ...) gets to connect to the internet through it.

I've got my phone unlocked and I am using a regular data plan (not RIM), with internet services included. Apps work fine with it and connect properly to the internet.

Apparently, I've got something wrong with the upgrade, since everything worked fine before it. I just can't figure out what's the issue. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Did you use BB Protect before the upgrade? Only reasons I ask is 1) when you restore also restores your WiFi settings anf Bluetooth.

No, unfortunately I was not aware of that at the time so I did not ... Only thing I did (well, DM did) was a backup of the device.

I've tried a few things but none of them worked so far: battery pull, device restore, deleting the WiFi from the Saved networks list and then re-registering it, resetting my router.

Alababa, at your mobile network settings is your Data Services set to ON?

Re: Latest 9800 OS: 6.0.0.666

Yes, Data is turned to On. Here's what happens, with Data set to On:

1- when on the Mobile Network only, everything loads pretty quickly;

2- when both on the Mobile Network and the WiFi, it takes some time but pages load;

3- when on the WiFi only, I get error messages (Browsers: Unable to find the requested server; AppWorld: not sufficient wireless connection or wireless is turned off).

I am guessing that in the second case I am also connecting through the Mobile Network and not the WiFi.
