Locking Blackberry

Recently on a trip to Hyderabad India. I was robbed of my blackberry phone and cash by three muslim youth and one old muslim man when I was travelling in an autorickshaw. Then they forced me out of the vehicle. When I went and complained to police they said the culprits would be untracable. It is clear that law does not exist in the highly corrupt India. When I went to another police station they informed me that they do not take any cell phone or laptop complaints. So I want to lock my blackberry now with my IMEI number so that it is rendered useless even for the robbers now. So can anyone please guide me how I can lock this phone. Mine is 8320 blackberry curve. I can post the IMEI number if some one can trace or lock it. It is very likely that these fellows belong to a terrorist group who have safe asylum in hyderabad.
