Re: Lots of problem after upgrading to OS 6

If you'd rather go and buy another smartphone due to this issue, then I say go for it. Remember: this forum is on user to user basis. We're not part of Research in Motion, so even if you threaten us with "jumping ship", it won't do anyone any good.

Official BlackBerry 6 on Bold 9700 is not recommended in most cases. Memory leak, insufficient application storage space, etc. Unofficial hybrid OSs might alleviate the problem, but not officially supported. Before installing a new system, you need to do enough research to understand the risks and consequences.

If you wish to retain BlackBerry 6 on your device, then you need to contact your carrier and confirm that you do have a BIS data plan that covers the desired features.

If you are indeed on an active BIS data plan, go to Options > Device > Advanced System Settings > Host Routing Table. Then click on Menu key and choose "register now". This process registers your device to the wireless network. Hopefully this will restore your service books.

Re: Lots of problem after upgrading to OS 6

1. Delete the newer OS from your PC by going to Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs. (If you never physically installed the OS to your PC, skip to step 2.)

2. Then download and install the older version of the OS. BlackBerry Operating System Downloads

Click on the dropdown box to the 9700 model, the choose the third download, the link to BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.726 (EastAsia)

3. Install the older OS to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
5. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.
