Mal-Ware APPS from app world

I down loaded a couple of APPS from app world. Now in the mornings a splash screen advertising "the app of the day" covers my screen. Cannot remove as the only option is to download the app. After a few minutes of trying to remove it, it goes away, but by then I may have lost an incoming call or been delayed sending one.

Also in the last week, and every week I receive over 80 anonymous messages advertising APS. In my text messaging preferences I have selected "Reject Anonymous Messages" and "Reject Advertisements". Help

PS Could this sucptability to mal-ware be why some do not like Blackberry?

Re: Mal-Ware APPS from app world

It's not malware, it's something you installed.

So, start with deleting those "couple of apps" from your device.

The anonymous messages... how are they arriving in your device, via email? or what?

Re: Mal-Ware APPS from app world

After removing the new apps, and restarting my BB, I have received 3 new advertisement messages. Will try removing the battery and restart.

Ok, they arrive in your messages folder as what kind of message? An email?

They have to have some source of being sent.

Re: Mal-Ware APPS from app world

Thanks J Sanders, I still do not have any new messages, or a splash screen this morning! I think you solved it!

They appeared in the folder who's icon looks like an envelope and the phone identifies as "Messages". There is no "to" or "from" for these messagesRIM has sent messages that show up in this folder but RIM / Blackberry identifies themselves.

Email is not set up on my phone and text messages are in a different folder, who's icon is a phone with a "text bubble". The phone identifies that folder as "Text Messages".
