Media card format Locks up device

Well.. My curve and this new memory card are not getting along. I tried formating but all that does is lock up my device.

When i go to options > Media card  here are my settings

On

None

On

yes

Media card cannot be read. verify that the memory card is formatted.

Everytime i format ... i get locked up.. well my device does at least.

I have was going to use my computer to format the drive but when i choose to format i see 1.3 tb drive instead of 9g? If i go ahead and format the 1.3 tb drive would that essentially wipe my BB?

Re: Media card format Locks up device

Whoa!

Whatever you are seeing as a 1.3 tb drive, DON'T format it. Your media card is NO where near that size (the largest currently available are 16 GB (gigabyte) cards... so your 1.3 tb (terabyte) is likely some attached hard drive on your PC system.

Likewise, not 9gb either... so -- what size IS your Media Card?

Just take it out and look at it.

You can always, while removed, do the formatting via a card adaptor on your PC.

Re: Media card format Locks up device

My media card is 8 gb.

I currently do not have a card reader to format it with.

I do though have another 8gb media card.. that i put into my phone( media card was already formatted BB style) that worked perfectly.

Only problem, is that its my bosses... My phone sees that i have media cards but for some reason on the old card it does not want to format.

Wish i had another new card to format so i could test it..

Any ideas on alternate ways to format the media card?

Re: Media card format Locks up device

1. From within the device

2. In the device via the USB connection

3. In an adaptor on your PC...

...are the only threee ways I know of to do so.

Is that where you purchased your Media Card.. if so, they should replace it as faulty.

If not, return the Media Card to where you purchased it.

You did say another Media Card works find in your device?

Re: Media card format Locks up device

The media card came preinstalled in one of our new phones so yes it was provided by VZW.

I tried the faulty card in a storm(different phone) which caused yet another lock up when attempting to format. And yes i tried a different media card in my curve and it worked perfectly. It's just not my day.

Re: Media card format Locks up device

Seems you have narrowed it down to a faulty media card...
