Memory Card Slot Problem

Hi, I've had my BB Bold 9900 for about 4months, about a month ago it started not saving anything. When I checked the memory card status it gave me Media Card is not presently inserted in the device, I took it out and put it back in, still the same. There's nothing wrong with the card, it works on the pc, reader and other phones, I put a new card in and still the same happens.

Re: Memory Card Slot Problem

Hello!

Good find! And thanks for posting it!

What happened in your case is the same with all computing devices. Since electricity is constantly passing through, the connectors between the SD card and the BB become corroded over time with oxidation and buildup of "stuff". That "stuff" can impede the good connection between the two. Removing and reinserting the card basically scrapes the connectors against each other, scraping through that "stuff" and allowing a good connection again. The common term for this is "re-seating".

Cheers!

Re: Memory Card Slot Problem

I think jose didn't fully read your post, that you have removed and reinserted the card and new card.

Have you rebooted the BlackBerry with the battery taken out WHILE the BlackBerry is powered ON? please try that.

Also, if you insert the Media card, have you tried doing an on-device format of the card?

Re: Memory Card Slot Problem

Use a cotton swab with a ONLY a drop of isopropyl alcohol on the tip to lightly clean the contacts of the BlackBerry where the media card is inserted.
