Memory card maximums?

I have ordered a BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and I was wondering if there is a maximum amount of memory that can be added via the micro sd card?  I heard 8GB but I can't find any supporting documentation.  I found a 4GB card for a great price and I am hoping it will be compatible.  Any help is appreciated.

Re: Memory card maximums?

Thank you so much!  From what I gather, the 8130 should be running version 4.3 and I will double check when I receive my phone in the mail.

Re: Memory card maximums?

So is it correct to say that a 8GB Media card is the max for the Blackberry? And if this is so, what is the difference from a micro SD and a micro sd hc card?

Re: Memory card maximums?

I may have this wrong, but I believe the only difference is that the hc (high capacity??) cards have a larger memory than the non-hc cards.

Re: Memory card maximums?

So the "hc" doesn't have anything to do with the compatability of the media card?

That would be too simple. Thanks  Smiley Surprised)

Re: Memory card maximums?

HC  cards seem to be just formatted differently, I believe plain-vanilla SD cards were FAT-16 while the HC's are FAT-32s. Based on having the latest software release for your particular BB you'll get a boost in max card size acceptance. see other posts for links
