Microsoft Exchange but No BES

My company just switched to a corporate e-mail system and I have to re-setup my blackberry.  Corporate has Microsoft Exchange 2007 but they do not have a Blackberry Exchange Server.  How would I need to set this up so that I can sync with Calendar and Contacts in exchange? Do I need to have the enterprise plan through ATT? The tech guys at corporate said something about downloaded a certificate, but i am not sure if i completley understand how that works.  Also, do i have to set my desktop manager up differently? How do i set it up using the BIS on the ATT website? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
