Music on sd card

I am a new user of a BlackBerry Curve.  Still learning on how to do things.  I have a problem with getting my music to show up on the phone.  I have checked to see if the SD card has music on it, it does, but it does not show up when I put the card in the phone.  I formatted the card before putting music on it.  This is the first time I have ever used a SD card also. I have a Mac with itunes. Can anyone help a new user trying to catch up with technology. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Please send me the size of the media card, and on your BB go to OPTIONS-ABOUT

and send me the version of the OS  it will look like this 4.x.x.xxx.

In the meantime make sure these following points are addressed for the memory card,

OPTIONS- MEDIA CARD

Media Card window

ON

Encryption

NONE

Mass storage support

ON

auto enable when connected

YES

On your media card do you have these folders:

Blackberry

pictures

music

ringtones

videos

voicenotes
This is the folder structure that the Blackberry needs to allocate the media to.

Do you have these folders on your media card?

Re: Music on sd card

Thank you for replying to my problem.

I have checked the version and it is V4.3.0.124 (Platform 31.0.71)  I have a PNY 2GB Micro SD Premium.

When I take the card and put it in my card reader on my Mac it says BlackBerry and I open it with the following in it:

music

pictures

ringtones

system

videos

voicenotes

I did OPTIONS and it is set the way you said!

Thank you again for helping a beginner!!

Re: Music on sd card

Hi,

On the BB if you go to media menu key explore you should see media card and device memory.

Select media card and drill down to music, see if you song is there, If it is click on it, and see if it plays.

once done. Go to music and see if all the songs are there.

Let me know!

Thanks

Re: Music on sd card

Thanks again for helping.  I found the explore and clicked on media card, it showed blackberry, I selected, then it showed me music, pictures, ringtones, videos and voicenotes.  I selected music and it looks lide all the songs are there so I selected one to play and it displayed a message: Unable to display file/Media Card BlackBerry/music/01 and the song title.  It would note play the song.

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

Re: Music on sd card

How did you format the media card?

I suggest reformat the card in the Blackberry.

Go to options-media card menu key Format.

This will automatically put the directories on your card.

Let me know.

Thanks

Re: Music on sd card

I did format it on the BlackBerry before I put anything on it.  Should I try it again?

Thanks

Re: Music on sd card

Hi,

Here are the supported media types for the Blackberry.

It also speaks to DRM protected files which I believe includes itunes.

Let me know if this applies to your problem

Thanks

Re: Music on sd card

I looked at these sites and I discovered that protected files will not work.  All my songs look like they are protected.  So I burned a CD with a few songs on them.  I put the CD in a computer that doesn't have itunes on it, and I formatted the sd card again (on the BlackBerry) to clear anything on it.  Transfered the music to the sd card from the other computer, and the music is now on the phone.  That is a lot of work just to get my music on it but it worked.

Thank you for all your help, I could not have done this with out your help!  Is there anything I can or need to do on this site to share with people that all your help was great?

THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!
