My Blackberry can't save any of my contacts

I have the Blackberry 9700 V5.0.0321

I had my email sync with the contacts but then it duplicated all my contacts list when I already had the settings to 'NO' In duplicated names. I found out you can erase the duplicated names by pressing Option -> then press letters RSET --> which deleted ALL my contacts clean instead. I tried to put the names and numbers back into my phone but it wont let me save and so now I don't have any contacts on my phone.

Please if someone can help.

Re: My Blackberry can't save any of my contacts

Yep, sorry you learned the hard way. Who told you RSET would do that?

Anyway,

1. do you have a recent backup of the device?

2. How did you "had my email sync with the contacts". I am not sure what you mean there. Email does not sync with contacts.

3. Verify your contacts are gone. On the homescreen, go to Options > Status > press the Menu key > Database sizes. What is the size of your Address Book Database?

Re: My Blackberry can't save any of my contacts

Well I was desperate so I just googled it and that's how I got the RSET and without knowing I couldn't add all my contacts back to the blackberry.

I have the back up but now its saying that the file is not recognised so I can't use the backup device but I do have another mobile phone with all my contacts so there's no problem there. I mean I sync the the email to my phone but made duplications to all my contacts.

Address Book database

Total size is 2674.3K

Address Book - Default 0/0.0K

Is your backup file a *.ipd file?

Re: My Blackberry can't save any of my contacts

You should have no problem using the IPD file in Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore > Advanced.

Over the left hand pane, choose File > Open and navigate to the IPD file you have saved.

What is it you trying to do that you need help with?

Make a backup on a regular basis.

Re: My Blackberry can't save any of my contacts

I did the same thing, now it won't let me save an individual contact (say if I was entering it manually--no use of backup).  Is there any way to reset it?
