My World errors "An error occured while updating your application list"

[ Edited ]

Whenever I select My World from the web page I'm prompted for my blackberry id username and password, if I enter the correct username and password it continues to prompt me for my credentials, everywhere else it looks like I'm signed in fine with my ID. On my Blackberry I get the error "An error occurred while updating your application list." when I open My World. I've contacted Rogers for support and they told me I need to contact Blackberry directly

Edit: I've already tried ALT RST. And I've tried different phones as well. Using a different Blackberry ID works fine.

Re: My World errors "An error occured while updating your application list"

Hello,

I suggest that you clear the on-device AppWorld application cache:

1. Open App World

2. Go to My World

3. Follow one (and only one!) of these steps:

3a. For keyboard-based BB's -- Hold down the ALT key and then press, in sequence R, then S, then T

3b. For Touch Screen Only BBs -- Hold the num-lock (!?123) button so it locks and then press, in sequence 3, then 4, then (

3c. For newer (e,g., OS6 and 7) BB's, see this KB:

    • KB24714 How to clear the BlackBerry App World cache

4. AppWorld should close.

5. If your BB locks after issuing the cache clear, perform a battery pull reboot

6. Return to AppWorld/MyWorld (it may be sluggish while it re-synchronizes).

If step (4) does not happen as listed, then the clear cache did not work.

Hopefully it'll work for you!

If not, then this concerns me...

Whoever you spoke to was (I'll be gentle) not fully trained. End users have no ability to contact RIM directly for anything...doing so would actually violate the contract that all parties are bound to (RIM, the carriers, and even the end users). The only way to receive formal support from RIM is via escalation from the carrier...they have the power to do  so, but end users cannot bypass the carrier (well, not for free...there is a fee-based model, but you really should not have to go that route).

I suggest you contact Rogers again and hopefully find an agent that is properly trained.

Good luck!

Re: My World errors "An error occured while updating your application list"

I thought Rogers as well but I have the issue on the web site as well where I'm unable to login to My World even though it shows that I'm logged in with my BB ID.

Ummm...all I can say is -- Huh? You thought Rogers as well what? I don't understand your words there...maybe it's just me...but can you perhaps try again?

Re: My World errors "An error occured while updating your application list"

I thought Rogers would be able to fix it as well, the technician told me he has no tools to fix a Blackberry ID as I was having issues on the web page as well as on my phone and I should contact Blackberry directly, the only place I could find support for App World was this forum. Doing the ALT RST cleared the cache but did not fix the issue.

Re: My World errors "An error occured while updating your application list"

Please re-read what I said at the end of post 2 above...you need to find an agent at Rogers who is properly trained, for the one you spoke to was quite simply wrong. You cannot contact RIM directly. Only via escalation from the carrier.

Actually, from all the problems you are having, you likely do need to get help from RIM...but, again, only the method of escalation can provide that to you.

Then again, is there anything you require to retain in this BB ID/AW configuration? Any paid apps? If not, then you could also simply abandon that BB ID and create a new one.

I have a couple of paid apps, plus all the apps that special time offer apps. I'll give them another shout.

Re: My World errors "An error occured while updating your application list"

Rogers took a week to get through to Blackberry on this. It was a bug in version 3 of App world that they felt was fixed in 4, I'm now the 2nd person to report it in the last couple of weeks.

Basically I've had too many Blackberries and too many apps in my App World and the list is timing out when being pulled.

So its off to BB Developers to get fixed.

Re: My World errors "An error occured while updating your application list"

Oh! That's actually excellent information for everyone, and I'm sure that all appreciate you sharing it. If you can continue to share updates as things progress, that as well would be quite helpful for all.

Cheers!
