My blackberry got stuck

Hi, took my blackberry to sprint, and they couldn't unlock it.  I woke up and it say to enter Blackberry but nothing happens and it told me that my passoword was wrong.  Now my niece i don't know why she did this but she started wiping out my contacts and everthing I had on my phone.  I stopped it by removing the battery.  How can I really stop it from wiping out all of my contacts and messages.  help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

 

Short answer -- you can't. Once a WIPE has been initiated, it cannot be stopped. Removing the battery during the WIPE may actually render the BB useless, requiring an OS reload to get it running again.

 

Long answer -- BBs are the most secure mobile devices available. Part of that security is the user-assigned device lock password. If entered wrongly too many times, the BB proceeds to assume it's been lost or stolen, and wipes out all personal information so as to protect it from whoever now has the BB. In cases like yours, the accidental entry of too many incorrect passwords results in the same WIPE actions.

 

The thing to do is protect your data, by using the FREE backup methods that RIM provides. You can read about that in this thread:

If you've previously used any of those, then you have them as an available source of restore. If not, then all I can say is that I'm sorry for your loss.
