My bb has been annoying me for sometime because it drains the battery so quickly. I've deleted lots of apps etc I don't use to try and help, and I make sure I properly close everything down so it's not running in the background etc. Even if I put it on standby mode the battery has usually drained by about 1pm even though it's been fully charged.
Me and my fiance have the same phone so I've tried his battery/charger etc. If I use his fully charged battery the same thing was happening. On saturday though, it just will not charge at all. A red light comes on and goes and that's it. If I use a fully charged battery it will still last a few hours, but I can't charge it myself.
It's a bit of a nightmare as my fiance had emergency surgery last night so we need to both have working phones so he can contact me from the hospital if he needs to, and I need to take his phone home to charge at night, but it's leaving me without a working phone.
Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do to fix it?

From what you have explained it seems you have tried most of the things I would advise, and from what you have tried it seems there is a definate fault. The only other suggestion I have regarding this is to try your phone in 2G only (However this will only make a difference if the 3G coverage around you is bad, and if you're not using a blackberry curve.)
Other than this there's not much you can try, the fact that you can't charge any batteries through the handset shows it's the handset that has the fault so you will need to contact your service provider to arrange repair or replacement.
Hope this helps

I won't be able to get a repair or replacement I made the stupid mistake of getting it through phones 4 u in april 2010 and had nothing but trouble. My last one malfunctioned so after 2 months of it being taken away for repairs I got this current one back in novemeber 2010. They said they changed the circuit board or something but I think it was a new one because the keys were different. So anyways you only have the warranty for like 6 months or something so I doubt they'll repair/replace it and then I'd be without a phone again which isn't an option at the moment. =/
Normally I'd buy a new one but with my fiance being off work for so long now times are going to be tough as we're moving house in 4 weeks too....
How do I change the phone from 3g to 2g to see if that makes a difference?
Thanks for your advice/help.

Couple of points to bear in mind.
My new out-of-the-box battery was faulty. Fortuneatly, the assistant tried to charge it in the shop, reailsed it was faulty and replaced it..
It could be possible that you have been suffering from a poor battery. See if you can borrow a know-good one to test before buying a replacement and if you do buy a replacement don't leave the shop without checking it charges.

I've tried a different battery as I used my fiance's and it works but then drains within about 2 or 3 hours and can't recharge it on my phone, only his.

I have the same problem I don't Know the cause but I have a solution.
1) Get an external battery charger that works alone not with the phone or use another Black Berry to charge battery.
2) Get a small charge enough to start the phone.
3) then plug in the adapter in the phone and monitor the charge until it reaches a full charge then unplug the phone immediately.
(very important to unplug the phone because the Black Berry starts to drain the battery after it reaches full charge.).
4) when the battery is low you must charge and don't let the phone die or buy a second battery.

I have the EXACT same problem. It's gotten so bad I can hardly have a conversation for more than 3 minutes without the phone being plugged in before it dies!
My husband has the exact same phone as I do and we got them at the same time. His works fine. I've tried his battery and the same thing happens. It's obviously not the battery itself that is the problem....wish I knew how to fix it.
