Need my Key Store password

I recently purchased a used blackberry Pearl. I have downloaded google applications I would like to use on my phone. I want to be able to always trust google's certificate, but in order to do this the Phone asks for my key store password. The blackberry came set up all ready. How do I reset the phone so that I can either set up a key store password or eliminate it all together? Please help!

Re: Need my Key Store password

robdog, Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.

You can't reset it, you just have to know that password. You will get ten attempts to enter the pw correctly, and on the tenth attempt, the device will wipe itself completely of all personal data, messages, calendar, contacts and preferences.

So, do this first: Connect your BlackBerry to your PC and open Desktop Manager and do a complete backup of the device. This will save a backup *.IPD file to your PC, probably to the My Documents folder. Go to that folder on your PC and confirm the backup file is there.

Now, when you complete the  tenth wrong pw entry, expect the wipe.

Then reconnect to the PC and open Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore and restore all your former data to the device.

Good luck.

Re: Need my Key Store password

Thank you for your response. I did wipe the phone clean one time before and still had the same problem. Are you saying that if I dont have the key store password for the phone that was originally set, then I will never be able to change the key store password or simply set a new one after wiping the blackberry clean? If I can set a new key store password after a clean wipe please advise on how to do this. Thank you

Re: Need my Key Store password

Yes, set a new one if you need to do so.

After wiping the device, you can set your own Keystore password at options > Security > Keystore.

Re: Need my Key Store password

I have the same problem with a used 8230 Curve. Once the phone is wiped it still is asking for the key store password in order to change to a new password. How or where can you get the currently set key store password?
