i've recently done the two hour update to my blackberry 9900 and since it's been very slow, freezing and taking a long time to respond when i press a button. i've had my phone for about 9 months and i've been very satisfied with it until now. any ideas?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Beyond that, you should investigate the things the update put onto your BB...and remove what is not needed (e.g., excess language packs, etc.).
After that, performing a clean OS reload (as opposed to the update process) would be a logical next step.
