I've had my BB9900 for about 2 months and am encountering this problem for the first time. I have not had the BB icon beside my 3G signal since last night. Hence, can't send BBMs, send & receive emails, browse, etc on my phone. Basic telephone and texting okay, though. 3G signal is strong so it's probably not a network issue. I noticed this happened after I registered last night to BB appworld and set-up an email account on my phone.
Can anyone help me?

Do you have 3G/EDGE/H+ all in upper case when the issue happens? I would also suggest trying a different SIM card and then monitor the network connectivity.
