Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

Even though ATT's policy has changed it clearly says they won't allow it?

Ok, Good luck.

Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

I own 9700, I felt totally disappointed, after reading several threads, it seem that the only solution to surf the web by wifi on OS 6.0.0.706 is to trow this device away and buy another more recent version. How come blackberry at some point decided to charge people a license to enable WIFI navigation?. This is absolutle crazy!!

My promise is not to buy blackberry anymore if a patch is not delivered.

OS 6 devices will work on WiFi to enable use of the browser. I don't know what you're doing.

Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

I did Options, Network and conections, assure DATA SERVICES on, Connection Preference: Wifi Preference, also assure that the link to the WIFI network is Ok. I have also assure no APN is set.  but the browser continue reporting: "Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem Persist please contact your service provider"

In some other cases I got: There is insuficient network coverage to process your request. Please try again later.

Also there is an announcement where Blackberry informs that to browse internetby WIFI you HAVE to buy something called Blackberry Internet Service, which  is absolutly crazy, unacceptable to have to pay a license to surf the internet using wifi.

Look at your Browser > Menu key > Options > , what are the options you're presented there?

Re: No Data Plan - Connected to Wi-Fi but No Internet Access?

Ok, then check your main Settings > Browser.

At one time, there was a setting to enable the HotSpot Browser there. It was removed with OS7, I believe, because it would default to a WiFi connection for the hotspot browser, but until then it had to be enabled.

Check the above and see what you find. I don't have an OS6 device handy to check myself. ;(

I could not find that option on OS6.
