This message normally means that a firewall (either on your local machine or perhaps on your router) is blocking the connection to the internet for the desktop manager.  You can try turning these firewalls off, or any kind of internet security you have temporarily to see if that helps.  To get around it you can downgrade to desktop manager 4.2 sp2.  Before you uninstall your current desktop manager. you may want to copy the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers somewhere  so that you have the drivers.  I believe the 8110 is one of the devices that requires the drivers from the 4.3 desktop manager(these drivers are also available from windows update)

I am also unable to configure synchronization with my 8130. I have removed all routers and disabled all firewalls and still have the same issue.  Tried downgrading and still have the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
