No email connection

Hi, I have a blackberry curve 9320 which I use on wifi when I don't have prepay credit, for emailing and whatsapp. At the moment Im in the Netherlands and use sitcom wifi at the home where I'm staying and it was working fine till yesterday. I rang vodafone service here yesterday on my blackberry as my Samsung wasn't recognising the Dutch sim or getting connected to vodafone but after the guy on the phone did some network adjustments the samsung was fixed. How ever later on when I went to email from my blackberry it wouldnt send so I tried all the usual but just get the message 'your device had a problem connecting to the serer'. I went on vodafone chat here with one of thier so called experts who told me a load of rubish, like wifi doesnt work on a blackberry and niether does whatsapp without blackberry blox. That while I was actually whatapping with some one in the UK and here in the house. Does any one know how I can fix the probl;em as these folks here just give useless info. Thanks katwize

Apologies for the delayed reply...hopefully you already have resolved this, but just in case...

There are many services that are proprietary to BBs alone, and many still that require an active BB-level data plan, from your carrier, in order to function. Email is one of those, so I am confused that you say you could use email when your credit had expired...but, no matter...it's also possible that they (your carrier) didn't "catch" you immediately and allowed the service to continue even after the credit has expired (such happens all the time).

It's also impossible to tell you exactly what services should and should not work in your specific circumstance. There are hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different BB data plan levels...each carrier sets what exact services the user can have based on the specific data plan subscribed to.

From what I understand, WhatsApp requires a proper BB data plan, so the fact that it may have functioned for a bit may as well be a matter of them not immediately "catching" you and shutting it off right when your credit expired.

Further, it sounds as if your carrier adjusted the plan on that SIM and removed all BB services from it so that it would work correctly with your Samsung. In which case, your carrier would again need to adjust the assigned services to re-enable BB-level services onto that account.
